Our Story

Clementine is a distribution broker. We don't build the apps we carry, and we don't build the storefronts our distribution partners already run — we sit in between and handle the one thing neither side can solve alone: getting a global consumer app paid for and reachable by an everyday consumer in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Mauritania, or Egypt.

The demand already exists. Health, education, entertainment, and productivity apps are used organically across North Africa every day — the problem was never interest, it's infrastructure. Card penetration is as low as ~10% in Egypt, cash and cash-on-delivery still dominate, several currencies aren't freely convertible, and almost no global consumer app has a local billing, carrier, or distribution relationship in any of these six markets.

That's the gap Clementine is built to close: carrier billing, mobile-money rails, and Arabic/French localization, packaged into a single relationship instead of six separate ones. Distributors plug into a growing, pre-vetted catalogue of global apps — through a mobile SDK inside their own existing app, a REST API for a fully custom build, or a ready-to-brand white-label app of their own — and get the carrier billing and mobile-money rails to monetize it, through one relationship instead of dozens. Publishers get their app listed and paid for across six markets without building any of that access or payment infrastructure themselves.

The name isn't decoration. The clementine is a North African original — its commercial origins trace to French Algeria in the 1800s, and it's grown across Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia today — and it became one of the most familiar fruits on tables worldwide. We're running that journey in reverse: bringing the world's best apps back into North Africa.

We're a new company, and we'd rather say that plainly than invent a history we don't have. There's no roster of signed clients yet, and no team page padded out with stock photography — just a clear read on where North Africa's app economy is blocked, and a distribution model with real precedent elsewhere in the region that we're now building out for these six markets specifically.
